Canada Proposing Regulation for HEV Noise Level

In the CANADA GAZETTE Vol. 155 No. 17 Part I, Canada is proposing: CMVSS 141 Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (HEVs). HEVs are significantly quieter than their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts when driven at low speeds. This heightens the risk to the blind and partially sighted who rely on audible signals when navigating in the vicinity of traffic.

NHTSA Extends Comment Period for Information Collection

In the May 26, 2021 Federal Register (FR Vol. 86 No. 100; [Docket No. NHTSA-2021-0013]), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), requested a 3 year extension for comments regarding submission to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for Review and Approval of Automated Driving Systems 2.0 a Vision for Safety. NHTSA is looking for comments on any aspect of this information collection.
