Vol. 88 No. 21) the FMCSA issued a Supplemental Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SANPRM) requesting additional comments (previous advance notice (ANPRM) on May 28, 2019) regarding safe integration of Automated Driving Systems (ADS) being considered for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).

Legislation Introducing New GB Type Approval Scheme Published

When the United Kingdom departed from the European Union (EU) on December 31, 2020, all of the EU Regulations on automotive type approval were transposed into UK law. However, it was recognised that some significant amendments to these "transposed" Regulations would be required before they could be implemented in the UK to form a GB specific type approval scheme. Whilst the necessary Regulatory amendments were being developed, an interim "Provisional" GB type approval scheme was put in place for motor vehicles of categories M, N, L and T, i.e. passenger vehicles, goods vehicles, two and three wheeled vehicles and agricultural tractors.
