Whilst monitoring the latest European Union regulatory information and updates, we noticed that on 17th December 2015, the European Parliament agreed to set up a Committee of Inquiry into emissions measurements in the automotive sector. This Committee will investigate alleged contraventions and maladministration in the application of the European Union legal requirements on automotive emissions.
It will investigate alleged failures of both the European Commission and the Member States' Authorities in the implementation and application of the automotive emissions requirements and make recommendations to rectify any identified shortcomings. The Committee, which will consist of 45 members, is tasked with producing an interim report within six months of starting work and producing a final report within twelve months.
