On February 9, 2026,the NHTSA published in the Federal Register (FR Vol. 91 No.26; Docket NHTSA-2026-0265) the announcement of an Automated Vehicle Safety Public Meeting. NHTSA will hold a public meeting on March 10, 2026. The event will provide updates and insights into ongoing vehicle automation activities across the NHTSA. It is an in-person meeting with keynote presentations by the Department of Transportation (DOT) leadership and industry executive panel discussions on Automated Driving Systems (ADS). The NHTSA seeks public comments on the information presented, as well as input on the agency's AV priorities, need for Federal guidance, and additional gaps or needs the public may believe the NHTSA should address.

Attendees must register no later than March 5, 2026. The public docket will remain open for comments for 30 days following the public meeting - until April 10, 2026.
