The 131st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) is scheduled to take place from April 13–17, 2026, and the 94th session of the UN ECE Working Party on Lighting and Light Signalling (GRE) will be held from April 27–30, 2026.
At the GRSG meeting, key topics include:
- Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulation No. 43 on safety glazing to introduce requirements for mirror/chameleon treatments or films applied to windscreens.
- Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulation No. 46 on devices for indirect vision, aimed at clarifying requirements and ensuring alignment with other UN ECE regulations.
Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulation No. 167 on direct vision, introducing provisions for vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems (ADS).
At the GRE meeting, the agenda will include:
- Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulation No. 48 on the installation of lighting and light signalling devices, clarifying the prohibition on manufacturer logos that emit light.
- Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulations No. 148 and 149 on light signalling and road illumination devices, providing clarification on the grouping of approval markings.
- Proposed amendments to UN ECE Regulation No. 149 on road illumination devices, introducing provisions to allow type approval of adaptive driving beam headlamps for L3 category motorcycles.
These sessions will provide an important forum for reviewing and updating safety and lighting standards, ensuring they remain consistent with evolving vehicle technologies and safety requirements.
