Numerous Amended and Updated UN ECE Regulations Enter Into Force

On June 4, 2026, all of the updates and amendments to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) Regulations that were adopted at the 197th session of the UN ECE World Forum for the Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) which took place in November 2025 entered into force. Amongst these updates and amendments were Supplements to the following UN ECE Regulations:

  • UN ECE Regulation No. 10 on electromagnetic compatibility.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 48 on lighting installation.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 131 on advanced emergency braking systems (AEBS) for heavy vehicles.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 148 on light signalling devices.

In addition, there were new Series of Amendments for the following UN ECE Regulations:

  • UN ECE Regulation No. 46 on indirect vision devices.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 73 on lateral protection devices for goods vehicles and trailers.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 134 on hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles.
  • UN ECE Regulation No. 156 on software updates.
