Upcoming United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) Working Party Meetings

The 90th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) Working Party on Pollution and Energy (GRPE) is scheduled to take place on January 9-12, 2024 and the 18th session of the UN ECE Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA) is scheduled to take place on January 22-26, 2024. Topics to be discussed at the GRPE meeting include proposed amendments to Regulation No. 49 on heavy duty vehicle emissions and Regulation No. 96 on agricultural tractor emissions to permit the use of hydrogen as a fuel for internal combustion engines, proposed revisions to Regulation No. 85 on net power measurement and updates to Global Technical Regulation No. 22 on the in-vehicle battery durability of electrified vehicles. Topics to be discussed at the GRVA meeting include proposals to expand the scope of Regulation No. 155 on cybersecurity to include agricultural vehicles of categories R, S and T, proposed amendments to the automatically commanded steering function (ACSF) requirements specified in Regulation No. 79 and the development of two new Regulations; one on Driver Control Assistance Systems (DCAS) and one on Urban Emergency Braking Systems (UEBS) for heavy vehicles.
