Recently there has been an increased number of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory items published in the Federal Register. Many of the items appear to be an attempt to update current safety and emission regulations to reflect the actual current conditions by deleting obsolete requirements or non-existing conditions. Some of the more recent affected regulations include:

  • FMVSS 205/205a - Glazing Materials
  • FMVSS 206 - Door Locks and Door Retention Components
  • FMVSS 210 - Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages
  • FMVSS 216/216a - Roof Crush Resistance
  • FMVSS 217 - Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release
  • FMVSS 222 - School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection
  • Part 571 Subpart A - Fuel Economy and Greenhouse Gas Exhaust Emissions General Provisions
  • Part 600 Subpart B - Fuel Economy Carbon-Related Test Procedures
  • Part 600 Subpart C - Proceduresfor Calculating Fuel Economy and Carbon-Related Exhaust Emission Values
  • Part 600 Subpart F - Procedures for Determining Manufacturer’s Average Fuel Economy
